The ASCO Research Forum for medical students and residents is a professional development opportunity designed to provide students and residents with an intimate venue to develop and refine their presentation skills and to receive feedback on their research presentation at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting. It is specifically intended for students and residents who have had minimal exposure or experience presenting research. Those who would benefit most from acceptance into the Research Forum are individuals seeking to gain confidence, practice, and constructive, one-on-one feedback on their work from oncology experts in a low-stakes environment.
Authors of selected research will be invited to present as part of the 2026 Research Forum event at the Annual Meeting in June 2026 in Chicago, IL. Applicants can also apply to receive funding for travel to the Annual Meeting and presentation of their research through the Annual Meeting Research Award (AMRA) included in this application.

Research Eligibility
- Oncology-related research or case studies
- Single or multi-patient case reports
- Multi-patient studies
- Laboratory studies
- Research should address scientific questions, detail clinical observations, or contain primary scientific data.
- All materials must be submitted in English.
The Research Forum is NOT a part of the main ASCO Annual Meeting Scientific Program. To submit your abstract for consideration in the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting Scientific Program, you must submit your abstract through the official ASCO26 Call for Abstracts.
Research abstracts accepted to the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting are not eligible to also be accepted to the Research Forum.
- The application includes a required question asking if you are also applying to the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting Scientific Program.
- If you answer "yes," you must agree that should your abstract be accepted to the main Annual Meeting, you will withdraw your acceptance from the Medical Student & Resident Research Forum.
