ASCO’s Virtual Mentoring Program (VMP) pairs members, both domestic and international, with a mentor outside of their institution to address unmet career development needs. Applications are open from November 25, 2024 – January 24, 2025.
Program Objectives
Provide ASCO members with guidance, support, and resources to address unmet professional and career development needs.
Develop meaningful connections and expand professional network.
Program Expectations
Meet regularly with mentor. Mentees are expected to schedule and conduct monthly virtual meetings with their mentor.
Establish a plan. Mentees will create a mentoring plan that includes clear professional development goals, timeline, strategies, and metrics for success.
Take initiative and be open to feedback. Mentees are expected to initiate and maintain contact with their mentor, come prepared to each meeting with an agenda, and monitor goal progress.
Eligibility
To be considered for the ASCO Virtual Mentoring Program, applicants must:
Be an ASCO Member (or submit a membership application in conjunction with this application)
Adhere to the minimum time commitment of one hour per month during the program period
Additional Notes
While past program participants may apply, priority will be given to those who have not yet participated in the program.
Individuals who wish to work alongside their assigned mentor in clinical trials, research, or with specific mentoring goals outside the purview of the program should not apply.
Applicants who require an in-person component to their participation should not apply.
